In recent years, the management of university, research institute, and corporate laboratories has undergone rapid change due to factors such as technological evolution, intensifying global competition, increased emphasis on diversity, and the need to address sustainability. At the same time, concrete methodologies and practical knowledge for laboratory management remain difficult to visualize and are not sufficiently shared among leaders. This lecture will focus on efficient laboratory management, productivity enhancement, diversity promotion, research quality improvement, and building international collaborative research. Using real-world examples, we will discuss the latest management strategies and practical techniques for maximizing output and achieving a sustainable, competitive research environment. This content offers valuable insights for early-career PIs such as assistant professors and associate professors grappling with lab management, as well as students and postdocs aspiring to establish their own labs in the future. Finally, I will briefly introduce my own research.
