For T-GEx Fellows

In Phase 1, an academic mentor who has close knowledge of the Fellow’s research activity is appointed, and from Phase 2, either an academic mentor or corporate advisor, depending on the training track the concerned T-GEx fellow chooses is appointed to support the Fellow's development.

Phase 1

Academic mentor (laboratory PI or host faculty member, etc.)

Phase 2

Academic mentor or corporate advisor, depending on the training track that a T-GEx fellow chooses (Fellows' wishes are taken into account)
International Joint Research: overseas researchers, researchers with extensive experience in international joint research projects, etc.
Interdisciplinary Joint Research: researchers from different research fields.
Industry-Academia Collaboration: corporate researchers, developers, etc.
Entrepreneurship: Start-ups, venture capitalists, etc.

  • The aim of mentoring is to enable T-GEx fellows to sustain their high levels of enthusiasm and research activity. It is expected for academic mentors to provide T-GEx fellows with advice on a wide range of topics such as the development of their specialized and interdisciplinary research, the extending of international research activities, career development, acquisition of research funds, research dissemination skills, social impacts, work-life balance, the relieving of stress.
  • It is expected for corporate advisers to provide with T-GEx Fellows with advice such as social implementation of their research outcomes, industry-academia collaboration, and entrepreneurship.
    Corporate advisors are selected upon consideration of the Fellow’s field of research, without being limited to members of the partner companies.
  • Mentoring should be held at least twice a year (June-July, February-March), adding more if the mentors and mentees require.
  • T-GEx Fellows use e-portfolio to record the mentoring.
  • The mentoring arrangement is to be reviewed annually and can be changed if necessary.
