PI development seminar `Consideration of leadership style as a PI’ (in Japanese)

The laboratory organiser (PI; principal investigator) is responsible for running and managing the research, preparing the budget, creating the laboratory's infrastructure, supervising the research. What kind of leadership does a PI need?
Leadership is not just about taking the lead. A better understanding of leadership can help you to compensate for each other's weaknesses and to build on each other's strengths for better laboratory life. It will also help you in the future when you step out of your current laboratory and are in a position to organise an organisation in relation to people from different fields.
In this seminar, in addition to a series of basic behaviours required of a leader, participants will learn about three leadership styles such as servant leadership, authentic leadership and secure-based leadership, that have attracted much attention in recent years. Along with how to exercise leadership in your own way in various situations at universities, join us for a discussion with participants on the possibilities of being a leader in future research and science and technology in Japan.

Lecturer:
Representative Director, Career Design Inc. 1st class career consulting technician Ms Takako Higuchi

We will share opinions with participants (work with several people) for mutual understanding and shared learning. Please make sure to participate in the sharing.

Request from the instructor:
The course will incorporate 'participatory' activities in which participants exchange opinions with each other. Open sharing with each other expands new ways of looking at things.
The ground rules are to listen with the heart and not to talk about the information gained. Listening to participants is also a learning experience. We look forward to your active participation.
