T-GEx Associate Dr. SHINTANI A. Seine (Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Life and Health Sciences / Center for Mathematical Science and Artificial Intelligence, Chubu University) ranked first in PestCLEF 2026, one of the LifeCLEF challenges at CLEF, with an AI information extraction system.
PestCLEF is a task for extracting relationships among crop diseases, pests, host plants, locations, and related entities as knowledge graphs. Dr. Shintani’s system identifies diseases, pests, plants, vectors, and occurrence locations from text on plant diseases and pests, and outputs their relationships. The evaluation results were published on Kaggle, with 320 total submissions.
