The research result of T-GEx Associate Dr.SHINTANI A. Seine, College of Life and Health Sciences Chubu University, was published in " Biophysics and Physicobiology ".

Key points of the presentation
●A newly discovered phenomenon called "S4C" in which sarcomeres*1 (basic units of muscle), which make up warmed cardiac muscle cells, exhibit unstable vibrations due to changes in calcium concentration.
●S4C was also confirmed in the relaxation process of contracted sarcomeres in the excitation-contraction link*2 of cardiomyocytes.
●S4C plays an important role in supporting the rapid and flexible relaxation of ventricular muscle during cardiac diastole, and may contribute to the development of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of heart diseases.
