Main research topics

I have been studying the nature of class action seeking measures such as nature protection and climate change countermeasures Environmental interests such as nature conservation have not been able to obtain sufficient redress under the traditional court system. Because it aims to restore individual rights. Class actions are attractinig attention as a means of overcoming the limitations of the current court system.By granting specific groups the right to file lawsuits, they aim to protect environmental interests that have not been considered in court proceedings.I have been researching the background to the introduction of class actions and the desing of the system(including which groups are eligible and how to prevent abuse of the system)by comparing it with other areas, such as consumer law, where there is also a high demand for the protection of the rights and interests of large numbers of people.

As I have explained above, my previous research has been concerned with the restructuring of the court system for environmental protection, and has focused entirely on court proceedings. However, the background to this research has been my interest in the construction of a legal system for the creation of a sustainable society. Therefore, I have further deepened this awareness of the issue and am now researching the role of urban law in climate change measures. In recent years, in addition to the expected role of cities in climate change measures, there has been a focus on how to ensure the resilience of urban funtions in response to the problems caused by climate change. However, urban laws in Japan,do not provide sufficient legal guarantees to ensure that factors such as protection from climate change and decarbonization are placed at the center of local government policies. Therefore, based on comparisons with other countries(Germany), I have been researching what kind of city planning local governments should consider in order to adapt to climate change in the future, and what the ideal approach to land use management should be in response to climate change.
