Main research topics
I am researching the factors that promote wellbeing and competence in young adults. Currently, I am working on two main studies.
The first focuses on young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autistic traits. Although autistic traits are often associated with high levels of depression and anxiety, some individuals with autistic traits maintain good mental health and a high sense of well-being. To better understand this variation, I am carrying out quantitative research on the psychological processes linking autistic traits to mental health challenges. I also use surveys and case studies to explore the environmental and personal factors supporting those who thrive. The goal is to develop more effective and individualized interventions and create environments that promote their strengths and wellbeing.
The second study is a longitudinal investigation of how factors such as personality, residential environment, social relationships, and high school study habits influence mental health, academic performance, and career satisfaction during university. Many young adults face psychological difficulties in university, and their support resources are often limited. Furthermore, some students struggle to find ways to apply their strengths. This study aims to identify both the risk and protective factors that influence adjustment and inform preventive interventions that can help students succeed. Preliminary results suggest that study habits formed in high school affect university adjustment, personality traits correlate with academic outcomes, and campus social support plays a key role in wellbeing.
Together, these studies seek to identify how individual traits and environmental conditions interact to influence development and contribute to evidence-based strategies that can help young adults grow into capable, healthy, and fulfilled individuals.
